As Jamaica celebrates its golden anniversary of independence on August 6 — the same week its Olympic sprinters have dominated in the London 2012 Olympics.

We thought it would be a good idea to showcase how you can deck yourself out in real yard style to celebrate Jamaica’s 50th year of Independence.

YaadYute
With polo shirts, satchels and jackets in the traditional colours black, green and gold as well as flirting with shades of blue, red, orange and other colours to add a little sizzle. YaadYute® was born out of the desire for a brand that appeals to a wide cross-section of Jamaicans, the Jamaican diaspora, those of Jamaican lineage and those drawn to the attractiveness of our culture and heritage.

Tresor Paris
The Tresor Paris Jamaican range was created to celebrate Jamaica’s 50 years of independence with 25% of proceeds going to a Jamaican charity. It is made up of coloured crystals and magnetite spheres in the design of the Jamaican flag and all pieces are named after iconic Jamaican places – such as Montego Bag, Kingston and Dunns River. The range includes earrings, bracelets and necklaces and the launch is supported by stars with Jamaican roots including, Richard Blackwood and Ashley Walters.
