The Marks of a Successful Fashion Blog

Since fashion bloggers seem to increase in significance and influence yearly, and each year there seem to be more and more of them out there, we figured it would be good to focus on what exactly makes a good fashion blog.

Unfortunately it isn’t as easy as picking your website name, deciding on a web host that will propel you into the online world, and then snapping pictures and writing text. There is a lot more craft involved than that!

A Picture is still worth 1,000 Words

Some of the most successful fashion blogs embrace the power of images and use them to their advantage in every blog post. Readers are drawn to captivating pictures, as these work to effectively break up the text into more readable and manageable sections. What’s more, since the topic is fashion, which is in itself a visual medium, readers expect to see what is being talked about.

One blog that we love which embraces the power of pictures is Song of Style. With a large feature image that rotates through an alluring slideshow, matched with compelling image-focused categories for posts, it is impossible not to marvel at how captivating the front page appears. Finally, within the blog posts themselves, photos continue to dominate over text, as they are large and clear focal points. Each image is so captivating, you can’t help but keep scrolling through.

Content is King

Keep your content fresh and engaging. If you go too long without posting, then you are already shooting yourself in the foot. Successful bloggers all have a very regimented writing schedule and force themselves to stick to it. If you can’t seem to meet all of your personal deadlines, there’s no reason why you can’t consider guest posts as well. Ultimately, in order to maintain readers to your site, you need to keep content production as top priority.

You also need to market that content well through your social media platforms. If your blog isn’t linked up to the Big Three of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, then you are really doing yourself a disservice. There is a significant amount of new readers that can be directed to your blog through these mediums.
