UK’s very own MOBO Awards is back however this time with a twist. For the first time in history the awards will be held outside of London at Glasgow’s Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) on September 30.

The announcement was made by Kanya King MBE, R&B superstar Lemar and X Factor finalists, JLS.

Kanya King MBE, CEO and founder of the MOBO Awards says: ‘We are delighted to be able to announce that the MOBO music awards show for 2009 will take place in Glasgow.’

‘Throughout MOBO’s history we have prided ourselves on finding innovative ways to bring MOBO music and stellar artist performances to our audience and this year we are making another unprecedented move by bringing the awards to Scotland.’

The MOBO Awards which launched in 1996 has taken place in London for the past thirteen years and have acknowledged and celebrated icons of the global music industry such as Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Tina Turner, Dizzee Rascal, Jay- Z, LL Cool J, Amy Winehouse, Rihanna and Usher to name but a few.

Tickets will go on sale for the 2009 MOBO Awards in the coming months.

  1. Very well written may I say. This short article has sumed up the MOBO awards very well.

    ‘However this time with a twist,’ engages the reader to read more, as this event is known throughout the world.

    ‘For the first time in history,’ should, I think, be changed (every year the awards are held at a different place, so it would be obvious that they will be taking place somewhere else, this only applies if the awards are held in different places every year. However if it is the same place every year then what you have wrriten is fine).
