The official trailer and poster for Director Michael Caton-Jones’s Urban Hymn has been released.
Set against the backdrop of the 2011 British summer riots, Michael Caton–Jones’ URBAN HYMN is a redemptive coming-of-age story set in South-West London and follows wayward teen, Jamie (Letitia Wright). Encouraged by inspiring and unconventional care worker Kate (Shirley Henderson) to use singing as a release from her troubled life, Jamie’s loyalties soon become torn between Kate and her possessive and volatile best friend, Leanne (Isabella Laughland).
Michael Caton-Jones (Memphis Belle, The Jackal), makes a welcome return with the heart-warming URBAN HYMN which won Best Film in the Generator +18 category at the Giffoni Film Festival and screened at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival and Glasgow International Film Festival earlier this year. Shirley Henderson (Southcliffe, Filth, Trainspotting) gives an incredibly moving performance as care worker Kate Linton alongside ‘Screen International Star of Tomorrow’ Letitia Wright (Top Boy, My Brother The Devil) and Isabella Laughland (Harry Potter, Now Is Good) who was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards in 2010. Michael Caton-Jones directs from an original screenplay by Nick Moorcroft(St Trinian’s 1&2, Burke & Hare). The supporting cast includes Ian Hart (Harry Potter & The Sorcerer’s Stone, Finding Neverland), Steven MacKintosh (Luther, Underworld: Evolution), Shaun Parkes (Notes on a Scandal, Human Traffic) and musician and activist, Billy Bragg.
Andrew Berg, Neil Chordia and John Sachs from Eclipse Films are producers along with Daniel Toland. Executive producers are, for Dashishah Global Film Production Anwar Kawadri and Ibrahim Dashishah, for Eclipse Films Brian Berg and Powderkeg Meg Leonard and Nick Moorcroft.
URBAN HYMN will be released nationwide on 30th September by Bulldog Film Distribution
