So there’s a new name to the UK femcee game with Aina More who recently won The Big Music Project.

AinaI am keen to avoid lumping all femcees from UK in one pot but then maybe it’s an indictment on the fact that the femcee game here is small (but that’s another conversation).

That said whether the pot is large or small, Aina stands out as quite different-indeed she is not in the same lane as Little Simz or any other name you can mention and that is good.

Her latest single 5th Seven taken from her forth coming ep FPWSAS [For People With Short Attention Spans] features African hip-hop artist Boogey and Morell.

This latest project follows on from tracks like her Nubian empowering soulful single, Lay Back which comes from that sound made popular by luminaries like Dilla; the vocalist who drops the hook Jecoliah Parker makes this track deliciously cool.

If Lay Back is Nubian attitude 5th Seven is street attitude, blessed by Aina’s rather smooth flow and tight sentence construction a product of her spoken word days for sure; her two collabos in-turn offer up their undoubted skills.

Her ep is out at the end of April and with people like Professor Green avidly supporting the Londoner, it should be a great year for Aina-well done!
