Ten inspirational speakers will be sharing their stories of success at a special event hosted by a school in Lewisham.

St Matthew Academy will be hosting an evening entitled Yes We Can, inspired by the words of Barrack Obama in celebration of Black History Month.

ITV News presenter Charlene White and international speaker David McQueen will be hosting the event to an audience of 125 students and 100 business, political and media professionals.

Some of the special guests on the night include Hollywood Actress Naomie Harris, Head Chef of the Ivy restaurant Gary Lee and property tycoon and TV’s ‘Secret Millionaire’ Caroline Marsh.

The school’s Deputy Principal, Martin Nirsimloo said ‘We have been very fortunate to get very high profile and inspirational figures all with a similar message of hard work and endeavor.’

“The youngsters are being given the opportunity to see that the speakers come from normal backgrounds and are ‘real people’ who have invested their talents and are now leaders in their field.’ Continues Nirsimloo. ‘Events like this have helped to foster a spirit of entrepreneurship and desire to achieve amongst our students.’

The will take place at St Matthew Academy on October 6.

I’m a vegetarian who hates vegetables. Contradictory I know, but that’s me, so hey! My life consists of magazines, books and old re-runs of Friends. I have worked for several North London newspapers and I am a regular guest writer for an online beauty and lifestyle magazine.I hope to inspire with my words and random thoughts to anyone willing to listen. I aim to be the best at whatever I end up doing. What that is- I don’t know just yet. But it sure will be fun finding out.
