Kingston Dub Club

Stuck indoors because you’re (rightly) observing social distancing requirements? Binge-watched every possible Netflix series and tired of TikTok? Summer holiday plans on permanent pause?

Provided you’re healthy, you’ve less to worry about than many, but you’ll still need to think of novel ways to beat the blues and stay motivated for the future.

One way to keep positive is by planning the perfect post-lockdown party for later this year or early next – debate the destination with your friends, discuss the most inspirational activity and let your imagination run wild.

To help you get started, here are three hotspots you might consider.

  1. Kingston, Jamaica

There probably isn’t a better place in the world to chill out til you’re totally horizontal than Jamaica – and capital Kingston is party central.

If you love bass, it doesn’t get more ground-shaking than Kingston Dub Club at Skyline Drive in Jackshill – sip a couple of ice-cold Red Stripe beers and wind and grind like a local.

And if you want to live like rock royalty, stay at Strawberry Hill Hotel in the verdant hills overlooking the city. Owned by Island Records guru Chris Blackwell, this was one of Bob Marley’s favourite romantic hideouts.

  1. Cape Town, South Africa

Cape Town is The Rainbow Nation’s coolest city – from the chic cafes and restaurants of Camps Bay to DJs on the decks at clubs like The District, Bob’s Bar District Six and Coccoon, this diverse metropolis can be as lively or laid-back as you like.

The scenery is sublime – drive out to Bloubergstrand for the sunrise and you’ll see Table Mountain rising from the clouds like a magnificent mirage, or sail out to Robben Island to see the spot where national hero Nelson Mandela was incarcerated as a political prisoner for so many years.

Finally, if you want to slake your thirst with fresh German-style pilsner, don’t forget to treat yourself to a beer at Kapstadt Brauhaus at the V&A Waterfront.

  1. Val d’Isere, France

If you prefer fresh Alpine air to sun, sea and sand, Val d’Isere is one of the world’s most fashionable snowsports resorts, where the Apres-Ski is as fierce as the powder is fresh.

Experienced skiers love the black run piste at Face de Bellevarde and the Grande Motte glacier is renowned for summer ski runs. You can rest and recover from your exertions in the Oxygen sports centre’s spa and sauna, then dance the night away at La Folie Douce, the highest bar in Europe.

If this sounds sweet and you want the peace of mind that comes with a package deal including accommodation and ski passes, ski gurus NUCO Travel can sort you out in no time at all.

Mull over the pros and cons of these three lockdown party destinations and put them to the vote – then, once current restrictions are lifted, you can get booked up and secure the dates and deals.

So ends our list, but please share your own post-lockdown party tips in the comments section
