Guy Ritchie’s criminal ecosystem is getting bigger. After The Gentlemen swaggered its way to the top of Netflix’s global charts last year—reaching number one in 75 countries and racking up 100 million views—the stylish crime series is back for a second run. Season 2 drops on Netflix on 3rd September, and judging by the teaser trailer, the stakes have never been higher.
The new season picks up a year after Eddie (Theo James) and Susie (Kaya Scodelario) teamed up to run Bobby’s overseas criminal empire. But Bobby’s decision-making is starting to look dangerously unhinged, forcing the pair to choose between seizing control or watching everything crumble. As Ritchie himself might put it: unfettered ambition never ends well.
The Cast Gets an Upgrade
Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Ray Winstone, Joely Richardson, and Vinnie Jones all reprise their roles, but the new blood is what really turns heads. Hugh Bonneville, Benjamin Clementine, Benedetta Porcaroli, Michele Morrone, and Sergio Castellitto join the ensemble, alongside TV host and entrepreneur Maya Jama and professional boxer Chris Eubank Jr. It’s the kind of cast list that suggests Ritchie is swinging for something bigger—both in scope and scale.
Location, Location, Location
Part of the new series is set around Lake Maggiore, the Italian alpine gem that’s appeared in everything from Bond films to high-fashion editorials. It’s a far cry from the London estates and country manors of Season 1, and the shift in geography hints at the show’s expanding ambitions. With Ritchie directing alongside Eran Creevy, and Matthew Read co-writing, the eight-episode season promises the same kinetic energy that made the first outing such a global hit—think Ritchie’s signature blend of sharp dialogue, violence, and style.
