American Express presents BST Hyde Park has just gotten even sweeter. Melanie C is bringing her DJ set to the festival’s Duran Duran-headlined Sunday on 5 July, adding yet another layer to what’s already shaping up as one of the summer’s most stacked lineups. She’ll be joining previously announced names including Scissor Sisters, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, and Groove Armada (also DJing) for what promises to be a proper celebration of pop, disco and dance across the generations.
From Spice Girl to raver
Mel C’s arc is one of the most fascinating in pop. As one-fifth of the best-selling girl group of all time, she became the female artist with the most number one singles in UK chart history—the only woman to have topped the charts solo, as part of a duo, a quartet, and a quintet. But before pop stardom, she was a teenager losing herself on the dancefloors of the early 90s rave scene. That formative experience came full circle with her latest album, Sweat, a joyful love letter to club culture. Since 2018, she’s carved out a parallel career as a DJ, playing legendary Ibiza venues Pacha and DC10 as well as major festival stages worldwide. Hyde Park gets both versions of her: the pop icon and the raver.
A Sunday built for the dancefloor
The rest of the bill reads like a masterclass in feel-good music. Nile Rodgers—multiple Grammy winner, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and the genius behind “Le Freak,” “Good Times,” “We Are Family” and productions for Bowie, Madonna and Daft Punk—will bring CHIC for what’s guaranteed to be one of the most euphoric sets of the day. Groove Armada, the duo behind “Superstylin'” and “At The River,” continue their 30-year reign as UK electronic music royalty with a DJ set. And Scissor Sisters return two decades after redefining pop with hits like “Take Your Mama” and “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’,” delivering their signature mix of glam, grit and unapologetic queer joy.
The undercard is equally promising: SOPHIE GREY. (yes, the period is intentional) with her synth-driven electro-pop, London sister duo SISTRA with emotional electronic songs from their debut album She Won’t Let Go, breakout UK producer and vocalist Harrison (whose rework of t.A.T.u.’s “All The Things She Said” went #1 Viral globally), multidisciplinary artist Wendy Bevan (who collaborated with Duran Duran’s Nick Rhodes on the acclaimed Astronomia project), and soulful songwriter Sam Scherdel.
Duran Duran themselves just unveiled their first 2026 single, “Free To Love,” co-written with and featuring Nile Rodgers—an uplifting, euphoric slice of cyber-funk built for the dancefloor. It’s their second time headlining the festival, and with 100 million records sold, 18 American hit singles, two Grammys, and a recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, they’re in peak form.
