Broadwick Live hand the keys to their new riverside venue to Meduza and James Hype, and the opening night bill has been stacked accordingly.
Someone has to go first, and Our House gets the job of showing London what Magazine Open-Air is capable of. On Friday 14 August the grounds around Magazine London open as a roofless dancefloor on the Thames, and the pairing at the top of the bill tells you the intent: euphoric, big-room house with the city skyline as the backdrop.
The bill
Meduza arrive with a catalogue of productions built for exactly this kind of space, expansive and clean and designed to carry across a crowd rather than just rattle it. James Hype brings the opposite skill set and it works beautifully alongside them: relentlessly precise mixing, technical showmanship, an ability to keep a dancefloor on its toes for the full set.
Around them sits genuine depth. Cristoph handles the deeper, more hypnotic end, Dombresky brings the French-house swing, and Layla Benitez b2b Brina Knauss is the kind of back-to-back that rewards turning up early. Special guest Nora En Pure completes it with her melodic, open-air-suited sound, which on a riverside site at golden hour should be something close to perfect.

Magazine sits on Greenwich Peninsula, five minutes on foot from North Greenwich on the Jubilee line and under half an hour from central London. The same links that serve The O2 bring you straight to the door, with easy connections from London Bridge, Liverpool Street and Stratford. Worth knowing
This is an afternoon-into-evening show rather than a late one, which changes how you play it. The site has been designed for the full day-to-night transition, with Shapes Bar, Mangal II and a run of London independents on food, so there is no need to treat the first few hours as a warm-up you can skip.
