With the current temperature set to scorchio our eye makeup is really put to the test. Runny eyes, smudging or simply melting off are some of the annoying consequences we face by wearing eyeliner in summer. Here I have tried and tested three waterproof eyeliners on the high street to see if they can beat the heat.

1. RIMMEL SCANDALEYES MICROEYELINER 1.1ML IN BLACK [RRP 5.99]

ASIAN PERSUASION RATING: 2 OUT OF 5.

The buzz: With a ultra fine tip for precise application the product claims to be both waterproof and smudge proof

In reality: The liquid was watery and took a few applications to get a nice black pigment. The thin nib did make it easy to produce either a thin flick or a thicker line.

The verdict: After a 2 hour driving lesson in the sun the eyeliner was quick to melt off.

2. KIKO SPORTPROOF WATER RESISTANT EYE PENCIL IN METALLIC TURQUOISE [RRP 6.90]

ASIAN PERSUASION RATING: 4 OUT OF 5.

The buzz: The eye pencil is coated with a special wax which makes it both transfer and water resistant.

In reality: The pencil glided on easily with a bright shimmery turquoise which made my brown eyes pop. The only downside is that the pencil does feel ‘waxy’ but that soon wears off once the product sets.

The verdict: After two mojitos in a packed and sweaty cocktail bar the eyeliner stayed on without a smudge in site. A good find if you are looking for a summer eye pencil.

3. MAYBELLINE EYE STUDIO MASTER PRECISE INK PEN EYELINER IN BLACK [RRP 5.99]

ASIAN PERSUASION STAR RATING: 5 OUT OF 5.

The buzz: Patented with anti drying ink technology the product boasts to be the slimmest eye pen on the market (0.4mm).

In reality: The liner glided on beautifully with a jet black pigment and dried very quickly. The pen was very simple to use which made the application quick and easy which is great for those without steady hands.

The verdict: After lazing in the afternoon sun the product stayed on perfectly. Hooray!

Asian Persuasion (real name Sushmita Sarkar) is a makeup blogger for all women of colour, with a strong emphasis on making dark skinned women appreciate their own natural beauty. Her blogs are a combination of frank reviews of makeup products and articles relating all aspects of Asian beauty culture. The blog was inspired when Sushmita picked up a copy of Asian Women magazine in a waiting room and was appalled at the lack of dark skinned Asian models on the pages, as all the models were either fair skinned or of European origin. Hence Asian Persuasion was born with a mission to persuade Asians and the Asian beauty industry to overcome colour prejudice and to appreciate their own heritage. Apart from blogging Sushmita's other hobbies include working out, dancing, cooking, reading and travelling.
