The epic UpRise Anti-Racism Festival is back this year and the Flavour Team cannot wait to be part of the free London based end-of-summer festival.

The event will begin in the community of Dalston, Hackney, on Sunday September 25 from 12 – 8pm. There will be 14 events located in interesting and unusual locations across East London to celebrate the community cultures that make up the UK’s capital.

The event will be a special one, where you will get to see live music, live art, films, debates, a family area, games, outside disco, walks, talks, speakers, comedy and more, not to mention completely solar powered stages.

There will be many amazing performances from ESKA, Aruba Red, Cynikal, Baby Sol, Fiona Bevan, The Hip-hop Shakespeare Company and Under The Driftwood Tree, with Mercury Music Prize-nominated Ty as host.

UpRise Director Paul Richards says of the exciting event:

“Ignoring racism, or denying its’ existence, does society no favours and stifles progress. Prejudicial views derive from a deep rooted history, and sadly, racism still very much blemishes our society daily. Only by open discussion will we all be able to move toward peace and respect, and resign racism to the history books where it belongs, once and for all.”

Ken Livingstone, who has supported UpRise Festival since the beginning, added:

“Every single nation on earth is represented in London, and it works. If I am lucky enough to be Mayor in 2012, I will provide funding for UpRise to help it grow.”

Do make sure you go and join the thousands of attendees at the event to celebrate putting a stop to racism. Find out more at:
