John Legend & The Roots – “SHINE” (VOTE FOR AHMED’S REMIX NOW!!) by Ahmed S.
Last year we interviewed John Legend about his album with The Roots so when Flavour journalist/US correspondent Ahmed Sirour informed us that he submitted a remix of their song Shine off their 2010 album Wake Up for the Remix Contest by Indaba Music naturally we had to jump on board and show our support.
He is currently in 5th place and needs your votes for a chance to win $1000 and some decent exposure. Ahmed says: ‘This contest really challenged and boosted my orchestral arrangement game as I labored hard to play the strings as best I could to give a cinematic feel (including harps, gong, kettle drums, french horn, and windchimes). The final piece of the puzzle, since I rearranged th original arrangement, was to have a real bassist, my friend Joel Powell, replay my basslines and add his dope flair to it.’
