Winter is well and truly under way here in the UK and if your skin is anything like mine, it’ll be feeling pretty dry right about now. Fear not lovely readers, as I have just the thing to keep your skin in tip top condition throughout the winter months.

Firstly it’s important to get into a good evening skincare routine. For years, I went to sleep with a full face of makeup on and wondered why my skin looked dull and wasn’t in great condition. In reality, overnight is the best time for products to work their magic on your skin.

Prepare:

To prepare your skin for any intensive treatment I recommend a good hot cloth, or balm cleanser. The cleanser will remove your makeup while using a muslin cloth helps to gently exfoliate the skin, leaving it looking brighter. Two cleansers I love are the superdrug Vitamin E hot cloth cleanser (£5) or if you want to splash out a little more, the Clinique take the day off balm (£22).

Indulge:

Overnight is the best time to treat your skin to extra moisture. I like to use a thicker moisturizer at night as it has more time to sink into the skin. There are also many overnight moisturising masks if you feel like you need that extra surge of moisturiser. I would recommend the Nivea Crème (£1.50) as it is a really thick deep moisturizing cream, and has beaten £100 creams in consumer tests! For an overnight mask, I would recommend the Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask (£30) It is a little more pricey but you get so much product for your money and it will last for ages.

Lock in:

After your moisturiser you want to lock in all that goodness into your skin and for this I recommend a good facial oil. I’ve been loving the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate (£36). It just adds that extra oomph to your routine, leaving the skin looking more radiant and feeling replenished in the morning. If you are looking for a more budget friendly option, the body shop does a similar serum-oil hybrid in the Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil (£13).

I’ve been doing this routine for a few weeks now and I can definitely see a difference in the look and feeling of my skin in the morning. Just a few simple steps can really being out the skins radiance leaving it replenished and moisturised in the morning.
