Japanese automotive heritage meets Gen Z fashion as Nissan Formula E transforms legendary performance car grills into bespoke grillz with Peckham jewellers Loud Mouth LDN.
Automotive design and jewellery rarely share the same space, but NISMO is closing that gap with a collection that’s equal parts motorsport heritage and street culture. Ahead of the Formula E season finale in London, Nissan Formula E Team has partnered with Peckham-based jewellers Loud Mouth LDN to transform the iconic front grills of legendary Nissan performance cars into a one-off set of custom grillz. It’s Japanese engineering meets Gen Z self-expression, and the result is genuinely unexpected.
Four Iconic Cars, Four Bespoke Pieces
The four-piece collection draws inspiration from the Nissan Formula E GEN3 Evo race car, the R32 Calsonic, the R34 Pennzoil, and the Z GT500—each one a chapter in NISMO’s performance history. Rather than starting with letters or logos, Loud Mouth LDN took the shapes and signature details of each car’s front grill and translated them into wearable jewellery. The handcrafted pieces were created at the studio’s Holdrons Arcade base in Peckham, a self-proclaimed ‘corridor of wonders and esoteric delights’ that’s become a go-to for bespoke grillz among high-profile artists and London’s creative set.
Reece Garcia, Founder and Director of Loud Mouth LDN, described the project as a creative departure. “Grillz are one of the only pieces of jewellery that are completely built around the individual, giving people a really unique way to express who they are. For this project, rather than starting with letters or logos, we looked at the shapes and details of the cars and translated them into something that works as jewellery. That’s something we’ll definitely keep exploring in future projects.”
Where to See the Collection
The grillz will go on public display at Westfield Stratford in East London before moving to ExCeL London for the Formula E season finale. Fans attending the event will also have the chance to win a bespoke piece designed and handcrafted by Loud Mouth LDN—a rare opportunity to own a piece that bridges two very different worlds of design.
