JustWright_img001Dana Elaine Owens, best know by her screen name Queen Latifah is the leading lady in  Just Wright, an hilarious and romantic new release. Queen Latifah has come along way from her days as a kid in New Jersey, where she fittingly was a power forward in her high school basketball team.

Our much loved, and multitalented leading lady has been a rapper, singer and now predominantly an actress. Her colourful career has earned her a Golden Globe, amongst numerous other prestigious awards.

Queen Latifah started out as a beat-boxer for the rap group Ladies Fresh. The music industry took notice of this rising star, and she released her first single Wrath of my Madness in 1988.

Deciding to move away from rapping, Latifah entered the world of hip-hop, and by her ninetieth birthday she had released her first album. Shifting once more our chameleon lady embraced her versatile vocal abilities, and in 2003 she released her strengths in singing soul and Jazz. A highlight of her early signing career must be signing in the famed Hollywood Bowl in L.A. that year.

Extended her success onto our screens starting, Latifah stated out in supporting roles in films such as Jungle Fever (1991). Never one to take a break Latifah had her own talk show The Queen Latifah Show (1999-2001), and the same time making a debut in her first box-office hit Set it Off (1996), acting alongside Angelina Jolie.

Queen Latifah is one of three hip-hop artists to receive an Academy Award nomination for her role as Matron ‘Mama’ in the Oscar winning musical Chicago. A serious triple-threat, come 2007 Latifah brought together her acting, singing and dancing talent in the screen hit version of the Broadway hit Hairspray.

Queen Latifah’s newest role in Just Wright is a romantic comedy. Leslie (Queen Latifah) is a physical therapist who gets her dream job of working with NBA All-Star Scott McKnight. She falls for him, oblivious of her affections he falls for Leslie’s childhood friend Morgan. This is more than just a game of love; it is a battle of the sexes. Set against an exciting backdrop of the basketball world championships Just Wright is being released on September 17th. We hope you’re as excited as we are!
